One of my most memorable moments with my Beautiful Boy is when he came home from Catechism and handed me a printed scripture reading. I said what is this for? He was somewhat nonchalant when he told me he was going to do a reading at his First Communion Mass. I was in disbelief. I thought he was mistaken. You see, Timothy was shy and introverted by nature and I couldn’t imagine him having the ability to do this.
So, I called Pat Butler at the church to confirm that he was confused about why he had the printed reading.
What she told me was quite baffling. Timothy indeed was chosen and was more than willing to fulfill this honor. He astounded me for the first time. He read from the pulpit at that Mass with uncanny poignancy. I thought to myself .. where did this ability suddenly come from?
I didn’t know at the time, but he would prove his devotion to God as an adult. He read his Bible almost every day. His ability to quote and break down scripture was profound. He was truly an Evangelist.
The name Timothy means “Honoring God.”
This is so true of him. I believe he had a calling from God to do this and he fulfilled it. I believe he would have continued with this passion and truly thought he could possibly have his own church one day. I believe that he proved himself so worthy that the Lord had mercy on him for all of his suffering with addiction and let him be free of his earthly existence.
I recently read about the biblical Timothy and am astonished at the likeness to my Timothy.
I will never be the same, but I have comfort in knowing that he is home with God and he has complete Peace.
