Obituary of June E. Thomas

July 18, 1921 – April 15, 2019

June E. Thomas. Age 97 of Wyandotte.

Beloved wife of Howard “Jeff” Thomas. Loving mother of Diane (Steve) Maciag, Vincent Bradshaw and the late Jim Bradshaw. Dearest mother in law of Pat Bradshaw. Dear stepmother of Jeff (Amy) Thomas, John (Karen) Thomas, Jimmy (Kelly) Thomas and Julie (Marty) Cole. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

FAMILY TRIBUTE

June got married to Jeff in the year 1960, so they had been married for almost 60 years! 60 very good and active years. On their first wedding anniversary, they went to Wildwood Lodge in Canada, and they went every year afterward for 50 years. Some of their closest friends are up there at that lodge. They traveled together far and near, at times only staying home long enough to do the laundry. They traveled quite extensively, even going as far as Singapore.

June loved to sew and as it would turn out, she was the local seamstress for everyone that knew her. She also loved to knit, crochet, and do Swedish weaving. All of her jobs were driving; the city loop bus, taxi cab, C&P delivery service, and finally Grosse Ile school bus, which is where she retired from. If there was something going on, she was there. She didn’t even nap, for the fear of missing out on something. She belonged to Wyandotte seniors for many, many years. June had many friends over the decades, outliving most of them. She enjoyed life, even at “97.”

She will be remembered for being a family lover, a dog lover, and a casino lover. She was a game player, board games that is. June loved to play bingo, cards, and of course — go to the casino. Which, by the way, she was not very lucky at. Her favorite was the crazy game, with 3 decks, that she and Jeff played with cousins Larry and Dawn. She and Larry are probably playing right now.

June was very social, friendly, and loved by everyone that knew her. Every year the family has a reunion, and it is believed that she thought the party was strictly for her, “the matriarch.” As most moms are, she was the rock under our foundation. Equally, they were a rock for each other, to lean on. God bless them both!

She had 3 children, 4 step-children, and so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that we won’t mention in fear of forgetting someone. But she loved them all and they all loved her. June definitely will be missed by all. We will shed tears for the memories, of all the good times, and hard times. She is loved very much. June, may God bring you home.
