Robert Thomas Council.  Age 91 of Brownstown.

In 1927, Robert T. Council was born in Detroit to Willie and Ilah Edmonds Council and raised in the Christian faith along with his 7 siblings. He remained a very spiritual person throughout his lifetime.  He is a product of the Detroit Public School system and also attended Wayne State  and Lawrence Institute of Technology.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Corporal Council from the #272 proudly marched in review during the commemoration of General Eisenhower’s departure from the Allied Command in Europe.

In 1953, he was united in holy matrimony with Claudia Brantley who cared for and indulged him for 65 years! They traveled extensively and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. To this union, two children were born, Robert A. and Carolyn. He also had two older sons, Richard and Raymond Frank.

He was employed by Ford Motor Company, Sterling Plant as a Production Supervisor and retired in 1986 - having  since enjoyed 30 plus years of retirement! He remained active by swimming and shooting pool, both in senior centers in Detroit and later as part of the Bridgewater retirement  community in Brownstown and the VFW # 9363 center.

He exercised his civil responsibilities by marching with Martin Luther King in Detroit and participated in the historic Million Man March in Washington, DC in 1995.

Family and friends will always remember his playful banter, clever wit , sense of humor, campfire songs, and fashion sense.  He was also known to share his many reflections and “philosophies”.

He entered peaceful valley at the age of 91 on February 12, 2019 at home with his devoted wife at his side.  His parents, five siblings and son Richard transitioned before him. He leaves with cherished memories, his wife, Claudia, sons Robert A.
