Beloved wife of Louis L. Farkas.  Loving mother of Kathleen (David) Farkas, Frances (Raymond) Farkas, Louis S. (Jocelyn) Farkas and Kenneth (Jennifer) Farkas.  Dearest grandmother of Walter, Christopher, Caroline, Stacy, Ella, Kiersten, Ellyce, Mason and Ethan.  Dear great grandmother of Ava, Leon, Egan, Dean.  Also survived by siblings Shirley (Robert) Kozuh, Robert (Debra) Smith, Norman (Lynn) Smith.  Proceded in death by siblings the late Charles (the late Joan) Smith and the late Donald Smith.

Family Tribute

Frances Dorothy Farkas. “Fran”, went to her eternal rest on January 7, in the company of her loved ones. Being surrounded by those she loved most, was what made Fran happy and feel at peace.  Heaven truly gained an angel and, although we will miss her greatly, we know that she will be waiting for us and watching over us.

It can be said that Fran has never known a stranger. Growing up as one of six children, after the untimely passing of her mother, Fran learned to be compassionate, humble and caring. She was extremely generous, and would never give a second thought to helping someone, even if it meant offering the food from her own plate. No matter where she happened to be, Fran would often be found deep in conversation with someone, sharing stories, listening and laughing. She had a knack for making people comfortable and people were drawn in by her feisty personality. Fran enjoyed playing cards at the Elks on Tuesday, her weekly hair appointment on Saturday and her annual “birthday/casino” trip to Bay City. Family and friends would also be likely to catch Fran rooting for her beloved Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, and yes, even the Lions. Her competitive nature, love of games and sports were essential to her life and added extra zeal to her personality. Fran touched many lives and left her mark upon many hearts.

Fran was ever devoted to her family.  She was a wife, a mother, a grandma and a great-grandma. Her greatest joy was fulfilling those roles, which she took pride in as well. As a wife, she was devoted to Louis for 54 years and together they raised four children. Kathleen, Frances, Louis and Kenneth always had her support and she never missed an opportunity to play, cheer, guide, cover-for, and love-on each of them. Fran sat through volleyball games, swim meets, track meets and cheered loud. She watched her children graduate and walked them down aisles for weddings and was there for the births of her grandchildren. Until her last breath, Fran loved her children and had their unconditional love in return. When asked, each of her children will tell you that their mom was their greatest fan and she always had their back’s. She was undoubtedly the one person they could go to, no matter what.  Her devotion to her family continued to her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She attended sporting events, nursed them when they were ill, shared her love of sports, taught them to bake, offered counsel and guidance and loved them with her whole heart.  American Artist, Andy Warhol, once said “The idea isn’t to live forever but to create something that will.” Frances created a legacy of love, through her family, that will be forever reaching.
