Obituary of Pearl Mary Mahl
December 28, 1923 - November 5, 2018
Pearl Mary Mahl. Age 94 of Monroe.
Beloved wife of the late Gerald Mahl. Loving mother of the late Rayann Jones and the late Kathryn Crince. Dearest grandmother of Terry Ann (Jon) Grieve, Heather Marie (Doug) Justus, Amber McKenzie (Jeremy) Guenther, and the late Richard Grieve. Dear great grandmother of Nicholas, David, Spencer, Madison, Bailey, and McKenzie. Sister of Elizabeth Nichols, Lena Paeth, the late Margaret Rusienski, and the late Helen Peters. Aunt of Linda Goodale.
Family Tribute
Pearl Mary was born in Pennsylvania, daughter of Margaret Adaline and Joseph Balcer. Her father, whom she never met, died in World War I. Her mother remarried where she gave Pearl four sisters, Margaret, Helen, Elizabeth, and Lena. Pearl and her sisters worked hard on their farm and later moved to Southeast Michigan. Pearl graduated from high school, but always worked on their farm to support their family. Pearl often spoke of living through the depression, and how hard life was during those years. Through those years she learned the value of hard work and independence which would define who she was until her last days.
Pearl had two beautiful daughters, Rayann and Kathryn, 4 grandchildren, Terry, Richard, Heather, and Amber, and 6 great grandchildren, Nicholas, David, Spencer, Madison, Bailey, and McKenzie, but because of Pearl’s big heart she had many more “children and grandchildren.” Pearl was known for her sense of humor, her honesty, her infinite willingness to help her loved ones, friends and neighbors. Pearl loved to talk about all of the places she traveled, Hawaii, Italy, the Caribbean, Egypt and more. Pearl loved to play cards and was known to visit “Plastic City” frequently during trips to Las Vegas. Pearl would want to be remembered for her independence, her gracious heart, and the love she had for her family. Her family remembers her for her delicious nut rolls, cabbage rolls, chicken paprikash, her sense of humor, her honesty, and her endless love for her family.
