Obituary of Dolores Saez

June 5, 1939 - September 7, 2018

Dolores Saez, Age 79 of Brownstown.

Beloved wife of Francisco Saez. Loving mother of Michael (Kathy) Saez and David (Joann) Saez. Dearest grandmother of Nicole Saez, Jacob Saez, Anthony Saez and Tristan Saez. Dear sister of Lawrence (Joan) Albas. 

FAMILY TRIBUTE

On June 5^th 1939, the world became a better place when Dolores was welcomed into the Albas family by her parents Lorenzo and Magdalena, and her brother Lawrence.  Dolores grew up in Melvindale where she taught herself Spanish and fostered her love for the language and culture.  She attended Melvindale High School where she was a cheerleader.  She graduated from Melvindale High School in 1957 and began working at Ford Motor Company as a secretary.  A couple of years later she met Francisco Saez and in 1962 she realized her dream of marrying a Spaniard.  In 1966, she gave birth to her first son, Michael, ending her time at Ford to care for her son full time.  In 1968, she had her second child, David.  She proudly raised her two sons and cared dearly for her husband, Frank.  Dolores enjoyed the expansion of her family with the marriage of her son Mike to Kathleen and in 1997 the birth of her first grandchild, Nicole.  Dolores cared for Nicole, babysitting for her while Kathy worked—forging an unbreakable bond with her only granddaughter.  Dolores was a phenomenal abuela to Nicole, Jake, and Anthony—a pleasant surprise in the growth of her family as Dave married Joann and welcomed her son, Tristan, to the family as well.

Dolores loved not only her immediate family, but her extended family, dearly and always wanted the best for them.  She absolutely loved her connection to Spain, its culture, and her relationship with her cousins from Barbastro, as well as her other “grandson” Jose Luis and his family.  Dolores always wanted those around her to be happy and her own happiness was infectious. She loved spending time at her cottage on Wampler’s Lake.  In her free time, she would often knit or crochet.  Dolores was a kind, patient, loving and very strong woman.  Not only did she beat cancer, but she often helped her husband with many physically demanding projects, she often referred to herself as “Mighty Mouse” and that, she was.  Every phone conversation and every visit with abuela ended with three words: Te quiero mucho.  Her loving smile and contagious laughter will be terribly missed.
