Family Tribute

For Sylvia, her faith, family, and friends were very important to her.  She retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years as a postal clerk.

Sylvia was a devoted Catholic, and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grosse Ile for over 42 years, who taught catechism, volunteered at the local hospital visiting the sick, was a Eucharistic minister and supported the less fortunate. She was also a confirmation sponsor for many of her grandchildren, a sponsor for RCIA and also a godmother.

Friends describe Sylvia as warm, witty, supportive, dependable, and she always made everyone feel welcomed. Sylvia was a member of the AAUW Wyandotte Downriver Branch for many years and enjoyed attending social events. She loved to play cards each week with friends whether it was Bridge, Canasta, Euchre, or you name it, she knew how to play it.  Sylvia played for fun, but with a competitive edge. Her hobbies included traveling, going on pilgrimages, senior trips, the casino, and living out her faith.

When it came to her family, Sylvia led by example and her family looked up to her. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events, whether big or small, she didn’t miss one. Sylvia showed unconditional love through her knowledge, presence, advice, and by the support she provided. She was the glue that held the family together and kept tradition alive to ensure the family remained connected and united. Sylvia was truly one of a kind, loved and respected by everyone.

A life so beautifully lived, deserves to be beautifully remembered.

Sylvia will be dearly missed.
