Obituary of The Honorable Raymond A. Charron

September 14, 1943 - June 26, 2024

The Honorable Raymond A. Charron.  Age 80 of Brownstown, formerly of River Rouge. 

Raymond Charron, beloved husband, father, and brother passed peacefully at home on the evening of Wednesday, June 26, 2024. A 80-year life well lived, whom God called home. Raymond is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Charron; his sons James Hall Jr. (Lisa), Jeffrey Hall (Amy Krebs), Charles Hall (Shasta) and Jason Hall. He also leaves behind his brother Larry Charron (Merry), his sister Grace Charron as well as his niece Lynn Fisher, (Chris DeReza) and his great nephew and godson, Maximillion; as well as his five grandchildren Lauren, Lindsay, Hunter, Charles and Max. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucien Charron, his mother Isabel Blais, and his sister, Luci Charron. 

Raymond attended and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in 1961, the University of Detroit in 1965 and the Detroit College of Law in 1978. After graduation from the University of Detroit, Raymond worked for the IRS for three years while attending Law School. Then, after graduating from Law School, he worked for the city of River Rouge as City Attorney. In 1992, Raymond was elected as a District Court Judge and served for 26 years in River
Rouge, Michigan. He continued his work as a judge after retirement substituting for other District Judges in Wayne County until he died. But more importantly, Raymond loved and supported his family through his lifetime and brought them great joy.

Raymond was an avid golfer and a member of Westshore Country Club for many years where he played golf and got his hole in one in 2015. At Westshore, he enjoyed card games (mostly Gin Rummy) with his friends. Over the course of about 4 years, he liked sailing on Lake Erie on his 30 foot sail boat. He enjoyed traveling the world and had fond memories of all the places that he was able to visit with his friends and family. His love extended to his pet Shih Tzu’s, Clancey, Beatrice, Beauregard and Bob that he spoiled and loved during their lifetimes. Raymond lived his life fairly and justly both inside and outside of court. He leaves behind a legacy of service and of enduring love. He always paid attention to the needs of others, and was steadfast in his support for colleagues, friends, and family. He showed his love through service to others. In small ways and large: with kind words, with thoughtful gestures, with his dry humor, with surprise parties, with his unconditional love. We know that he will continue to love and support all who knew him from afar. We will carry his memory in our hearts forever.
