~Family Tribute~
Born in Detroit on August 12, 1948, David spoke only Polish until he started his schooling at St. Juliana School in Detroit. His education included high school at De La Salle Collegiate and higher learning at Ferris State College, where he met his future wife, Carol.
Dave was inducted into the Army in May of 1971. He was very proud of the time served. In addition to the Army Basic Training, he was trained as a Military Police Officer and Sentry Dog Handler. He was a rifle marksman and a pistol marksman. His assignment was to the 28th Artillery Group, Selfridge Air Force Base, Battery C 3/517th Artillery. Dave received an Honorable Discharge in 1973.
Upon discharge, he was hired by Norfolk Western Railway and retired in 2003. He was a commissioned member of the Michigan Railroad Police and was vested with the authority as a police officer and special agent for Norfolk Southern Railway. He was also a weapons instructor. David has always LOVED trains. He could not have found a position more suited to him.
When Dave was not working, he loved the outdoors and spending time with his kids. With all the different seasons Michigan has to offer, he loved taking them up north-- camping and lots of campfires, bike riding around Mackinaw Island, snowmobiling, boating, and watching wildlife at the cottage. He was a nature lover at heart.
Dave and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary in February of 2023. I will remember Dave as a loving father and a caring person, willing to help others. His family was the center of his soul, and he adored his grandchildren. Looking back, I don't think David would have changed a thing. He had a beautiful life.
Love you and miss you forever.
