Obituary of Robert J. Vargo
April 28, 1947 - October 25, 2023
Robert J. Vargo. Age 76 of Iron River, formerly of Brownstown.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert J. Vargo, who peacefully departed this world on October 25, 2023, at the age of 76. He retired to Iron River, having been a previous resident of Brownstown. Most recently Robert had relocated to live in Saline, to be closer to family.
It is with great sadness that we remember the life of Robert, a man whose deep love for nature and family touched the hearts of those who knew him. Robert's connection to the wilderness of Michigan's Upper Peninsula was a defining aspect of his life. He found solace and inspiration in the pristine beauty of the U.P., and he cherished every moment he spent there.
Robert's devotion to his grandkids was a source of immense joy for him. He relished the time he spent with them, creating lasting memories that will endure through the generations. Whether it was taking them for walks on his property, fishing in the clear waters, feeding the wildlife, or enjoying the serene beaches of Bewabic State Park, his love shone brightly.
His professional journey was equally remarkable. Robert began his career at Painters Supply & Equipment at a young age, displaying unwavering commitment and dedication. He steadily climbed the ranks and played a pivotal role in the company's growth.
In his retirement, Robert Vargo returned to the northern wilderness he adored, eagerly anticipating visits from his daughters and grandkids. He was a source of inspiration for all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love for nature and family that will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Trisha Vargo and Tiffany Beckerleg (Jason), who, like their father, carry forward his legacy of love and togetherness. The laughter and adventures he shared with his grandkids, Desmond, Ivy, and Logan, will forever echo in their hearts, serving as a testament to the joy he brought to their lives.
Robert is also survived by his sisters, Judy and Betty (Phil) Ostafinski. As we remember Robert, we also acknowledge those who preceded him in death, his mother, Martha Boyd, his father, Joseph Vargo, and his brother, Raymond Vargo.
