Obituary of Karen Elizabeth Taylor
July 16, 1942 – September 16, 2023
Karen Elizabeth Taylor. Age 81 of Las Vegas, Nevada. Formerly of Detroit.
Karen Elizabeth Taylor, 81, passed away on September 16, 2023. She was born on July 16, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Norman and Leah Allen. She was a registered nurse and worked at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1992 and continued her nursing career at Sunrise Hospital until her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo with her husband, and loved Arabic food. Karen preferred to give rather than receive and would always open her home to friends and family, or really anyone that she made a connection with.
Karen was a God-fearing woman whose faith was of the utmost importance to her. Her rosary and prayer book were always close by her as she was a devout, loyal Catholic. She could always be found in the front row at any mass that she attended. She was the matriarch and rock that held our family together and will be dearly missed by her many friends, family and loved ones. And nothing brought her more joy than being able to make her and Ron’s annual trip to Michigan to visit and spend time with her family. 2023 marks the first year that she was unable to make her annual July trip home to Michigan for her birthday, which was devastating to her.
Karen leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Ronald (best friend for 63), four children, Elizabeth Jones (Tomas), David Taylor, John Taylor (Rebecca), Leah Bennett (Aaron Gajewski), 12 grandchildren: Robyn, Mary, Tomas, Aaron, John, Adam, Michael, Daniel, Devin, Kali, Dylan, Derek, and 5 great-grandchildren: Edwin, James, Erin, Abigail, and Emily. Karen is also survived by her 5 siblings: Judith, John (Shari), Norman (Dee), George, Norma Jean (John) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
