Obituary of Allan R. Clark

April 17, 1930 – May 7, 2023

Allan Ray Clark of Taylor, MI, passed away into Glory at age 93 on May 7, 2023.

He was born April 17, 1930 in Brown City, MI to Allen and Opal (Taylor) Clark. Following his mother’s death in March 1944, he was raised by his loving grandparents Sylvester and Jenny (Layman) Clark. On Oct. 30, 1948, Al married his high school sweetheart Anita Mae Welch. They had both graduated from Brown City High School.

Al loved his family deeply. His 73-year marriage to Anita was blessed with 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. They enjoyed having their family gathered together around them at every opportunity. Special family memories include summers at the lake cottage spent boating and fishing, picnics and ballgames, holiday celebrations, and many years of peacefully working, playing, and enjoying life together.

During the Korean War, Al served his country with the US Navy from Jan 1951 - Jan 1955. He sailed on the USS Tidewater in 1952 ranking as an EM3 Electrician’s Mate, Petty Officer 3rd Class at sea and E4 Master-At-Arms for shore patrol.

After receiving honorable military discharge, Al earned a degree in electrical engineering technology from Pacific Western University. He worked as a Master Electrician with Detroit Edison for 40 years, along with his own business, Clark Electric. In retirement, Al traveled and served with the SOWERs, installing and maintaining the electrical systems for various ministry organizations. Al was a quiet man with a strong work ethic. He could usually be found studying his well-worn Bible or working on projects at home and throughout the community, utilizing his skills to help others. He was a beloved member of Taylor Center Baptist Church for many years, and more recently with Victory Baptist Church of Taylor, MI. Mr. Clark will be remembered and esteemed by those who knew him best as a wise, caring Christian man who served the Lord humbly and faithfully, teaching and leading by example, investing in the Kingdom of God and pointing souls to Jesus.

Allan is survived by two daughters: Cynthia (Carl) Bantau of Taylor, and Terry (Brad) Farrant of Hebron, OH; one son: Keith (Rhonda) Clark of Taylor; five granddaughters: Jennifer (Chris) Joseph, Renee (Bruce) Yannatta, Dana (Ken) Wade, Kelly Clark, and Kimberly (Nick) Kusch; five grandsons: Timothy (Beckie) Farrant, Alan (Dana) Bantau, Aaron (Jennie) Farrant, Christopher Clark, and David Clark; along with twenty cherished great-grandchildren, and one treasured great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anita (Welch) Clark, their son Robert ‘Bob’ Clark, his parents, grandparents, and brother Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Clark.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 12 from 6-9 pm at Molnar Funeral Home in Brownstown. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Keith Clark on Saturday, May 13 at 10:00 am at Victory Baptist Church in Taylor, followed by Interment at Omard Cemetery (for family only). In lieu of flowers, Mr. Clark requested that any donations be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
