Obituary of Marjorie Agnes Martin
April 16, 1930 – April 14, 2023
Marjorie Agnes Martin of Woodhaven Michigan, passed away on April 14, 2023. Marjorie was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 16, 1930 to John and Agnes Martin. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, stepmother Ansa Martin and her daughter Janet.
Wife of the late William McCabe. Loving mother of Janet (Ron), Donald, and Tammy (Phil). Cherished grandmother of Jacqueline (Daniel), Jessica, Daniel (Jaclyn), and Dominic (Jill). Proud great grandmother of Caleb, Jonah, Daphne, and Roman. Loving sister of John (Judith), Jim, and Eileen. She has many loving family members including nieces and nephews.
As a small girl she lived in Ottawa Canada with her brother John and grandparents after her mother passed away. She often talked of the farm life and had many loving memories of her grandparents and cousins. In her 20's she traveled with Youth Hostelling International - traveling by bike and rail throughout Europe. She worked at the telephone company in Detroit while attending college. She finished college in 1963 at Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
She taught home economics in Lincoln Park, Michigan at both the Junior High and High School from 1963-1987. After retiring from teaching, she started a home rental business acquiring multiple properties. She enjoyed this second career for over 20 years.
She was a founding member of Woodhaven Baptist Church. For many years she taught Sunday school and enjoyed teaching bible school in the summer. She had an array of hobbies and passions including the 'Red Hats Society, and Detroit Puppeteers Guild. She loved crafts, sewing, quilting, and reading. She enjoyed traveling to England and throughout the US and Canada to visit family and friends. She cherished quality time spent with family and the memories it created.
A memorial service is being planned at the end of May to accommodate family travel from out of state. Details will be provided via the Molnar Funeral Home website.
