Mary Coward, originally from Big Pine, N.C.
Mary had to quit school after the 8th grade to help with the family farm. In her later years she spent 23 years working as a lunch lady for the Ecorse Public Schools. During this time she taught Sunday school to the little kids and was also involved in helping with the Salvation Army.
Mary enjoyed gardening flowers, canning, playing bingo, fishing and camping with family. She will forever be known for the southern food she cooked, hard work, loving personality, including the love for family, friends, neighbors and even strangers. Mary especially loved the Lord and her church.
