Family Tribute
Tracy Lynn Thayer-Swan, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed from this life unexpectedly on August 4th, 2022 at the too young age of 49, just weeks shy of her 50th birthday. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Steve Swan, parents James and Lotta Thayer, father in-law Ed Swan, children Brittny, Hayden, Gavin and Trinity, grandson Oliver, brothers Thane and Tim, and brother in-law Randy and sister in-law Jamie.
Tracy grew up in a loving household with her parents and 2 brothers in Southern California. When she was 6 years old, she got her horse Regent and loved riding and taking care of him. In elementary school she was a gifted organist and pianist. She was 13 when she took her first dance class and developed her passion for ballet. She was a very active and talented young girl who balanced her time between music, horses, and ballet classes. After high school, Tracy attended Chapman University and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in Communications (Dance) and English Literature.
For the last 10 years, Tracy lived with her family on Grosse Ile. She loved drinking coffee on her dock and watching the boats. She loved the island and would stay there forever (and never leave) if she could. Most recently Tracy worked as a building substitute teacher for Grosse Ile High School. Before that, she taught ballet and contemporary dance at NorthPointe Dance Academy in Lewis Center, Ohio. From 1996-2006 she was a professional company member at BalletMet Columbus where she performed in dozens of ballets and other performances in numerous roles. Earlier in life Tracy danced with Ballet Pacifica in Laguna Beach, CA.
Tracy loved life and lived her life to the fullest. Her memory will forever live on in all of us who loved her.
