Obituary of Gregory D. Haener
September 9, 1940 – June 16, 2022
Gregory D. Haener. Age 81 of New Boston.
Gregory spent his 35-year career at Ford Motor Company until he retired in 1995. His hobbies included tinkering in his barn, restoring John Deere tractors and vintage trucks - most recently a 1956 Ford F-100. He enjoyed visits from family and friends, listening to music from his large record collection, and spending time at "the farm", his hunting property in Hudson, MI. He had morning coffee and spirited conversation daily with his best friend and brother-in-law, Tom Belloli.
Gregory was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon and daughter Leslie, parents Arnold and Dorothy Haener, and other cherished family members.
Gregory was born at home in New Boston on September 9, 1940. He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School and soon after started work at Ford Motor Company. He married Sharon on May 26, 1962 and they had three wonderful children: Leslie (Pete), Greg Jr. (Char), and Laurel (Dan). He was very proud of his five grandchildren Dominic, Shane, Ethan, Madeline and Owen. In addition to his nephew Lee (Ashley), his large family includes many siblings, nieces and nephews, and cousins both by birth and marriage.
Gregory's family would describe him as a dedicated hard worker, music lover, unofficial local historian, and loving grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
