Obituary of Dana McWilliams
November 25, 1950 - April 23, 2022
Dana McWilliams. Age 71 of Brownstown.
Dana was born in Alpena, Michigan where she enjoyed being the youngest of four children till her two baby sisters came along. She eventually reconciled to being a middle child. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1968. Dana went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree and Teaching Certificate (1971) and Master's Degree from the University of Michigan and remained a lifelong Wolverine fan. Upon graduation, Dana entered the teaching profession. She taught Language Arts for 29 years with Detroit Public Schools and retired from Amelia Earhart Middle School in 2000. On May 20, 1983 she married John McWilliams.
In retirement, Dana pursued many hobbies. An avid bridge player and choir member, Dana will be missed by her many friends in the Bridgewater community of Brownstown, MI and Hawthorne community in Leesburg, FL.
Dana was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Olive Wiggins and her sister, Kathleen Marie Vera. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 38 years, John, brother Ronald (Patsy) Wiggins and sisters Nancy Wiggins, Marilyn (Greg) Wolpert and Barbara (James) Niemi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 20th at Molnar Funeral Home in Brownstown Michigan at noon with a service at 1:30pm. Refreshments to follow.
