When I first met Tim, he was bringing his father to our free community meal and he always took such great care of his dad. Eventually, Tim began to volunteer for us, and it was such an honor to get to know him. Tim was one of the hardest working volunteers I've ever met. He wasn't afraid to do the heaviest lifting or stay until long after the sun went down if it meant that a job needed to be done. He was very dedicated to our community meal program and spent many a holiday helping to set up, clean up, or do whatever was needed at our soup kitchen Christmas events. For years, he stood in the cold with us for our holiday bake sales at the tree lighting, and he was usually the first to arrive and the last to go home. Eventually, he also began to volunteer at other church events and he was quite indispensable. I know that he helped at his own church and many other places across the community, but he didn't go around looking for credit for what he'd done I am not sure if most people realize just how much he did to make the community a much better place. I always think about Tim during the holidays because he would bring around postcards and spread the word about the live nativity scene that he volunteered with. It was because of him that my family learned about this beautiful local event, and we got to see Tim there volunteering. Tim seemed so proud of the message of hope that the event symbolized. I am so sad that he has left us, but I think it is fitting that he can be with our Lord at Christmastime so he can celebrate the birth of our King with all of God's angels. If there's a job to do up in heaven, I would guess that he is already signed up to help. Tim will be greatly missed, and I know his community is grateful for his many years of service.
