Obituary of Janice Ellen Casebolt

March 20, 1939 - April 23, 2021

Janice Ellen Casebolt.  Age 82 of Brownstown.

Beloved wife of the late Clyde Casebolt.  Loving mother of Matthew (Michele) Casebolt.  Dearest grandmother of Matthew and Melanie.

Family Tribute

Janice Ellen Casebolt was born March 20, 1939, in Wyandotte, Michigan to Victor and Vera Tenaglia. Janice was a loving sister to Ralph. Janice met and married the love of her life Clyde in 1958. Janice graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1957. She then attended Wayne State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Teaching. 

Afterward, she continued her studies at WSU and received her Master’s degree in Education. Janice taught first in Detroit Public Schools for 6 years, then went on to teach 1st grade at Carr Elementary in Lincoln Park for 29 years. She retired from Teaching in 1999 after having touched the lives of countless children and received many awards for her excellence in Teaching. 

Janice was a puppeteer; she loved to use her puppets as teaching tools in the classroom. She was known as “The Puppet Lady.” In the 1970’s she was offered a position on TV by her friend who played Mona the puppet on the show “Hot Stuff.” Janice loved teaching so much she turned the job down. Janice was an avid collector of miniatures. She loved to stamp and quilt. She was a devoted Christian and attended church regularly. Janice and Clyde every year would fill Christmas stockings for approximately 300 needy children. 

Janice volunteered for the Good Fellows, Boy Scouts, and also learned to use the loom at Greenfield Village. She was also very involved in the Red Hat Ladies. 

Janice was loved by many, whether it was her students, her son’s childhood friends, or her son’s Marine Corp unit in North Carolina. Janice loved to travel to England to visit family, North Carolina to visit her Marines, and Florida to visit her second home. She and Clyde were referred to as “Mom and Pops” by her Marines and her son’s friends. 

She was a very giving person and full of spunk. She could talk your ear off and told fantastic stories. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered by her grandchildren as loving, giving, funny, talkative, energetic, and full of life. She fought a great fight and lived life to the fullest. 

In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Orders - The Molnar Funeral Homes is following and observing the 25 person cap on funeral attendance at one time.
