Obituary of Alexander McNeil
September 16, 1932 – November 9, 2020
Alexander McNeil. Age 88 of Woodhaven.
Beloved husband of Karen McNeil. Loving father of Kenneth (Sue), Richard, Andrew, Bonita (Anthony), Lance (the late Debbie) and Candace. Dearest grandfather of Sabrina, Korrin, Tony (Tammy), Brad, Dakotah and the late Carin. Preceded in death by parents Alexander and Helen McNeil and siblings Robert Lang McNeil and Agnes Nancy Messler.
Cremation will take place at The On-Site Crematory located within the Molnar Funeral Homes - Brownstown Chapel.
Memorial contributions are appreciated to University of Michigan Thoracic Department.
Family Tribute
Born – September 16, 1932 at Herman Keifer Hospital in Detroit. Alexander lived at Vinewood and McGraw, Virginia Park and Lawton, 2019 Philadelphia (his parents managed apartments) and 24644 Dunning Dearborn.
Alexander attended Angel Detroit, Thurkel, Oxford Elementary in Dearborn, Edison Junior High, and graduated Dearborn High School in 1950.
He worked at the Detroit Bank from 1950 – 1952. He then was drafted into the Military in December of 1952 and would serve until November 1954. After the military, he went back to work at Detroit Bank and Trust and Comerica. He worked at the bank for 42 years before retiring in 1992.
Alexander married Ann Meir in 1955. They had three sons from their union, Kenneth (Sue) McNeil, Richard McNeil and Andrew McNeil. He later married Karen Dockter in 1981 and gained three step-children. Bonnie, Lance, and Candace.
He loved the Red Wings and his all-time favorite player was Gordie Howe. His favorite football player was Doah Walker and baseball player was Hal Newhauser. He played baseball, basketball and softball for recreation. He loved all Detroit Sports Teams.
Frank Yesh was his best friend in high school and Gene Plaunt became his golfing buddy and longtime friend.
He enjoyed Camp Dearborn for vacations and after retiring in 1992 he purchased a motorhome and traveled for 10 years. He visited 48 of the 50 states.
Besides travel, he enjoyed golf, reading, and cards.
Elder and Treasurer for 10 years at Pres Church Lincoln Park and also an Elder at Peace Lutheran, Southgate.
Grandfather of Sabrina, Korrin, Tony, Brad, Dakotah, and the late Carin.
He was very proud of his Scottish Heritage.
