Obituary of Robert J. Logan

October 13, 1957 - August 27, 2020

Robert “Bob” Joseph Logan. Age 62 of Wyandotte.

Beloved son of Betty Logan and the late William Logan.  Dearest brother of William (Janet) Logan, Stephen (Laura) Logan, Patrick (Cynthia) Logan and the late Michael (Dee) Logan.  Dear nephew of David Logan and Dale (JoAnne) Fisher.  Also survived by 9 nieces and nephews.

Family Tribute

Bob was one of 5 brothers growing up in Taylor and moving to Lincoln Park in 1965. Later while going to school he started working at the Standard Station at the corner of his street part-time. He started by pumping gas, doing oil changes, and tires. As he continued to work there, he progressed to more responsibility in working on vehicles; becoming a skilled mechanic. When the owner retired, Bob negotiated to keep the location open as his auto repair shop. While running the shop, and in his spare time, Bob found affection for horses — in particular, harness racing trotters. Actively involved in owning and having his trotter run at Northville Downs. As time went by in the late ’80s and with a downturn in the economy, he decided to close the repair shop and sold his trotter. 

Then while looking for a new opportunity, we found Bob moving to Wyandotte, where he found work at a small restaurant called Nanna’s located on the corner across from the Wyandotte Movie Theater. Starting at what was needed and progressing rapidly, Bob ultimately found a passion for cooking. He continued working at Nanna’s for over 30 years. Over that time, he became an integral part of working and assisting the owner to manage the day to day business operation. Well-liked by the patron’s and workers, he truly enjoyed what he had at Nanna’s.

Bob and Steve, the owner, developed and had a remarkable association for so long that they felt like brothers, and the staff there became like an extended family to him. 

The Logan family would like to say thank you for the care and concern shown by those as Nanna’s. That was Bob’s happy place.
