Obituary of William "Bill" F. Havican Jr.
October 1, 1952 - May 29, 2025
William “Bill” F. Havican. Age 72 of Brownstown.
Beloved partner of Tim Gonzales. Father of Michael Havican and William J. (Kristin) Havican. Grandfather to 4 beautiful children. Dear brother of Ruth (Karen Holcomb) Havican. Uncle to Jennifer (Dave) Morgan. Also survived by close friends, Dwayne and Len.
Bill was an avid volunteer for so many non-profit organizations including Meals on Wheels, the Motown Invitational Classic, helping out at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit. After retirement at Great Lakes Steel, he joined the Red Cross serving in Iraq. Later he traveled to Haiti to help build cinder block homes and feed families in need. He coached little league when his children were young taking a leadership role in the organization. He served as a Deacon and youth minister at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church in Woodhaven.
Bill was an avid music lover with the Beatles being his all time favorite group. If he ever played name that tune, he would definitely win. When he was not quite 20, he carried his niece, Jennifer (2 yrs old at the time) all around Disneyland on his shoulders during a family vacation. That was something his father marveled at due to his young age.
Bill had a rich full life before Covid but struggled like many afterwards. He was a kind, generous, loving man. We will all miss him dearly.
Memorial contributions are appreciated to American Red Cross.
