Obituary of Sue Jenkins
December 30, 1938 - June 1, 2025
Sue Jenkins. Age 86 of Southgate.
Sue Jenkins, aka “Jake” beloved mother and grandmother born on December 30, 1938 was called home by her Lord at sunrise on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Her life was a testament of love, kindness, generosity and grace to all whom she encountered. Her faith in Jesus was her foundation that she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Beloved mother of Ronda (Jim) Sanders, Roxann (Mark) Dumas and Renee (Dave) Clemens. Dearest Grandmother to Seth Clemens and Reese Dumas.
In her lifetime, she held many roles of service. In her younger years, she held the responsibility of several secretarial positions with administrative duties. As the seasons changed, she got married and had three beautiful girls. Her girls were her number one priority as they grew and matured. She educated them with the knowledge of Jesus as Lord and Savior and accepting Him into their lives. She also educated her girls on how to be good homemakers and encouraged them to have a humble spirit to tackle life's adventures. She was very dedicated; she attended all school programs her girls participated in to show her love and support. Sue was always a very loving and supporting mother who encouraged her family at each of the crossroads in their lives to continue forward in their faith with endurance.
Her passion and dedication to her church family was just as strong. Each person she encountered was greeted with a warm smile and a loving hug. She enjoyed participating in Bible Studies, teaching and helping with church luncheons. She had a beautiful voice that harmonized with the choir singing praises. Sue was blessed to be gifted with not only the love of God but also the Spirit of God that moved freely in her life. Isaiah 41:10 was the scripture she held dear to her heart and stood on throughout her life’s journey.
In 2013, Sue started writing poems that were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and kept writing them until she was called home to Heaven. She shared them with her church family as well as on her social media page as an inspirational hope to a world that needs Christ's love.
In her spare time, Sue enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. Mountain themes and landscape scenes were her favorite. She said she enjoyed working on puzzles because she loved seeing all the pieces come together. She also created works of art with t-shirts and sweatshirts by adding her special touch of love and creativity with gems, jewels and anything that sparkled. When she watched TV, Western movies with the actors of yester years gone by were her first choice.
So now, rather than mourn and sorrow as those who have no hope in Jesus; we invite those who wish to remember Sue Jenkins, to honor and celebrate a life well lived in the service of her Lord, knowing that she has been lovingly received into the Kingdom of God.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Apostolic Church of Flat Rock (Pastor Gary Cook).
