Obituary of George Garbovan III
George is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years, his sister Judy Bachmann, his brother-in-law Frank Brown and many cherished nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Garbovan, and his sisters, Carolyn Raskin and Mary Brown.
An adventurer at heart, George embraced life with fearless enthusiasm. Whether it was spontaneous getaways to the Bahamas, skydiving, leaping from the second floor just for the thrill, or racing cars on the track, he lived boldly and unapologetically. In his early 20s, his competitive spirit made him a champion foosball player — a title he wore with pride.
His passion for cars and motorcycles was unmatched. A true enthusiast, he admired all makes and models, especially his beloved Fords and his little red Mercedes. With encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles, he found joy in car shows, auctions and the open road on his Harley. Equally devoted to good food, George and Sandy spent years traveling the country in search of the perfect slice of pizza, always with New York topping the list.
A retired manager from Lowe’s, George was a skilled, self-taught handyman who found fulfillment in every remodeling project he completed. He took great pride in his work, building and restoring with care and expertise.
Beyond his many talents, George was known for his sharp wit, strong opinions, and unwavering sense of humor. He always had advice to share, a comeback ready and a deep love for those closest to him. Above all, he was proud of his wife and daughter, and he loved them — along with his family and friends — more than anything.
George’s memory will live on in the stories he told, the adventures he chased and the laughter he brought to all who knew him.
