I am saddened beyond words at the passing of my dear friend Ioannis or as we called him Yianni. I have known Yianni for 60 years and I can confirm that he was the kindest person you could meet. He was my good friend, and our friendship was pure and without limits. Our jobs, titles, ages or political views didn't matter but our relationship was focused on our common goals. Yianni was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and very proud of his Greek Heritage but very thankful for being an American. He was a caring person and tried to help family and friends as much as he could and he did so. Yianni was very much in love with his wife Chrysoula and very appreciative of everything she was doing for him. Their love and admiration was mutual. Both of them were great hosts when I and our mutual friends, Gus Anastasiou and Mario Mihas visited them in their house. Their hospitality was impressive. Yianni was a soft spoken person but instilled confidence in his views. We had many discussions about world politics, Greek events but most importantly about issues that were nagging America. Yianni cared about his family, his Faith, his birthplace and America his new homeland. It was always a pleasure discussing the news with Yianni. He was a jovial fellow that made you feel like a brother and he always showed his respect and love. Yes, we will miss Yianni but I know he is in a better place.
Yianni, blessed is the way that you walk today for there has been prepared for you a place of eternal rest. May our Lord place you among His Angels and May your memory be eternal.
I will not say good bye to you but so long, for I am confident that we will meet again .
My deepest sympathy to your lovely bride Chrysoula and your family
Your friend always
